he owns 20 - 25 cows- the word owns itself says it all -owning means he uses/exploits them for his needs- so the question of respect for cows does not come . If truly he believes in the the sanctity of a Cow then he should leave them alone in nature and all faiths will respect that. If u really believe in that logic u should have a talk with the cow as to what she wants. if she could speak in the tongue of human's, that is . Reality is bitter - most cows are driven out or sold after they finish their milk producing ability which was meant for its own calf. Also-most farmer workers are poor in India -and their ability to look after domestic animals is severely restricted by economics- this results in the poor cow getting sacrificed.

Its not about special preference its about the culture and sentiments.He has never said that we should let other animals to die and just protect cows but he is saying that we have to protect cows from slaughter. If any new ministry will come into picture it will help us indirectly as major chunk of India's population still resides in villages and they generate or earn there livelihood through cattle's.
