In general , Indians are pathetic people , they have no regard for law or the natural resources. it's common sense not to dump waste and dead bodies in Ganga or any other river , but who cares in India
This is nothing new, a couple of years ago, a tourist posted graphic pictures of bodies rotting in the ganga, and people next to the bodies bathing and brushing their teeth. You would think this would have been taken care of years ago.
Disgusting Hindu practice. I have witnessed dead bodies being just disposed of in the river many times.
印度教的恶心做法。我多次亲眼看到向河中拋尸。

Mostly the destitute and the abandoned are thrown in the river after death. Hindu social organizations should come forward to offer the cost of firewood necessary for the cremation of these unfortunate people. Sadly, preoccupied with ghar vapasi, the guardians of Hinduism are deaf and blind to the real needs of the needy.
I am Hindu and Bhramin still I want to stop this stupidity of flowing dead one's body in Ganga. Ganga is holy but we are constantly trying to make it pollutant.
What kind of stupidity is that who throw body of their relatives in the water? The Hindus should bury the bodies instead of cremation. Cremation is expensive. You have to buy wood. The poor can not afford it and trees have be cut down. It is a big pollution where burial is eco-friendly. If Ganga is so holy why pollute it?
You need a Land to bury the body which is more expensive. The best and the cheapest way is CNG crematorium, which is also eco-friendly. A body can be reduced to ashes in just 30 min. These ashes can then be spread near the roots of the trees which can get nourishment from these ashes.
As a child growing up in Kanpur next to the ghats of Ganges, i have seen this first hand. Hundreds push bodies on bicycle shouting Ram Nam Satiya Hai. The problem is that they do not have the money to fund the last rites, expecially buying the wood. Half burnt bodies or even full is submerged in the ganges. If not for these politions, contrant black sewage water from nearby leather tanneries are pumped in each each by thousands of gallons. Fishes from this river are found to have human carcasses in thier system. How can anyone determine this water to be holy or safe for drinking? May be up at the source but certainly not in Kanpur or Varanasi...
WHY CAN WE NOT HAVE A POLICY TO BUILD HIGHLY SUSBSIDISED ELECTRIC CREMATORIUMS WHICH EVEN THE POOREST CAN AFFORD.
为什么我们不能有个政策,建造大力补贴的电火化㘯,即使最穷的人也用得起。

It is not about the facility. It is about belief. People believe that the dead persons soul gets moksha and goes directly to heaven if the body is dumped in Ganga river. you have to cleanse that belief to stop this nonsense. Without this dust will byte the electric crematoriums.
