ashis•5390• •kolkata• It is very interesting. We do not have a regulatory regime for drinking water, yet we have working nuclear protocol. What is appalling is that we do not have any mechanism to check water samples independently. Our nuclear suppliers have liability clause, but mineral water suppliers and corporations and municipalities have no such liabilities. BARC is not an organisation for doing such jobs. It is in Mumbai and with academic interest it has done sample testing for the city. What about the rest of the countries?
ColdFlak•4966• • ashis•SantaFe• India, boss.... can't you see that when we aspire for greater heights, we lose sight of the mundane? The nation is rocking after Obama's visit, and what can be more mundane than drinking water? The Ambanis, Birlas, Mahindras, Munjals, Hiranandanis have all the water they can afford. Who cares if the common man consumes industrial waste in the name of distilled water? Shouldn't we be more concerned about beating 's GDP?
ashis•5390• • ColdFlak •kolkata• under the CPC is the most capitalist country in the world now. It has sold it land, soil, air and water. We want to follow it. We are unable to chart our own developmental model. Once upon a time, another Gujrati, drew up model for Indian freedom struggle. Because of him, we did not have to go Latin American or African way. Ironically, we have been making statues higher only to turn us into pygmy.
