I agree with you. Most young Chinese people do not know about it. On my many visits to China; whenever I had a chance to interact meaningfully with them.... I used to finally end up (mischievously) telling them:"look at me, I'm your enemy, since your country and mine fought a war".
Their reactions varied:
"What war?"
"Really, you're kidding"
"So what, I don't care"
"Ok, but you don't look like an enemy"
"Fine, now lets get back to whatever else we were talking about, or doing"
and of a similar nature...... so War Ver.02 never took place and we carried on as before.

同意。大多数中国年轻人不知道这场战争。我去过中国很多次，每次与中国人互动，结束聊天时我都会戏虐地对他们说：“瞧，我是你们的敌人，你们国家和我的国家打过一场战争。”

他们的反应各异：

“什么战争？”

“真的吗，你在开玩笑吧”

“那又怎样，我不在意”

“好吧，但是你看起来不像敌人”

“好吧，让我们言归正传”

...

所以，让战争2.0版永远别发生，让我们继续前行

Reading most Chinese newspaper, mostly about US, Europe, East Asia, sometimes Southeast Asia, India, frankly ,is not a common topic here. Don't get me wrong, really seldom talked about in public in China, mostly online.

看中国报纸，大多数是关于美国、欧洲、东亚的，少数报道的是东南亚。

坦白说，印度不是大众话题，公众场合很少聊到印度的，有讨论也是在网上。

Now look at the kind of Indo-Pak discussions here on this forum. Most times, it looks as if the members are determined to wipe each other off the face of this earth, and create a 'nuclear desert' in the region just like that! But how many really have the guts to actually fight in a war?

Mostly I traveled in college, summer or winter vocations. Of course when one starts a stable job, one will get stuck
