haha. let me expand the statistics further: 90% of indian buildings won't stand up to earthquakes, fires, large scale flooding, blizards. why - because of our ubiquitous "chalta hai" attitude.

Not sure how far this is true and nor am I an expert to judge; but if this is true, then it is scary.....

When construction of building going on,most of the builder even not consider if sever earthquake hits, building withstand it or not..there should be authorised body of govt who will check basement of each new building..
NOT TO BE DISCLOSED (kolkata)
fifty years ago most of the houses in hilly areas were made of light construction like wood or tin---but NOW MANY 4 STORIED 5 STORIED BUILDINGS HAVE BECOME 3 STAR HOTELS IN ALL HILL STATIONS--THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION---CONSTRUCTION OF HIGH BUILDINGS IN HILLY AREAS MUST BE TOTALLY PROHIBITED[even if they fetch a lot of revenue]

Do not follow all the above advice, for example, if you are in bed, it is better to jump under bed for a chance to survive than covering your face with pillo.
Loan Shark (Earth) replies to Mahender Goriganti
due to limited space, most beds have a storage box and therefore, hardly any space to even crawl underneath LOL @ jump under bed床底的空间有限,很多床的下面还有一个贮藏箱,几乎没有空间让你爬进去。
