NEW DELHI: Those who save lives are themselves at risk. More than 75% of doctors across the country have faced at least some form of violence, initial findings of an ongoing study by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) have revealed.

Doctors faced maxmum violence when providing emergency services, with as many as 48.8% of such incidents reported from intensive care units (ICUs) or after a patient had undergone surgery, the study said. Relatives and attendants of patients were often found guilty of such actions. According to the findings, data of the past five years showed that escorts of patients committed 68.33% of the violence.
研究称，医生面临最多暴力是在急救时，多达48.8%的此类事件是从特护病房报道出来的，或者在病人接受手术之后。此类事件被裁定有罪的通常是病人的亲属和护理者。根据研究结果，过去5年的数据显示，病人的陪同犯下的暴力占68.33%。
However, experts said the findings did not reflect the actual situation as not all cases were reported. The gravity of the problem is much more. "All cases of violence are not reported. Doctors often understand the situation of relatives who are in distress and do not report such cases. Mostly, those cases are reported where the doctor feels serious threat of life or has already faced so," IMA secretary general Dr KK Aggarwal said.

75% is impossible. Are you making people fools. If 75% doctors has faced violence then it may be due to their negligence and carelessness. If you ask these doctors whether they have faced any violence, without thinking for a second they will say yes. Ask them if they have committed any fraud as per medical ethics they will say no. These people are making money on poor peoples health. Not all doctors but some doctors are good who treat the needy. But many doctors see their percentage before treating a patient
75%的比例是不可能的。在唬弄人吗？

Do not agree to this, in fact many of the doctors joining the profession have forgotten the oath they take when they pass out the degree. Medical in India has become a business rather to be an elite profession. When a patient enter the clinic he is only entertained when he deposit the amount what doctors demand else you are not even touched. I would call as only 2% of doctors really understand this profession

Main problem is Doctors lack of communication with the relatives of the patient. Many Doctors are arrogant and they do not even discuss the nature of disease and the the course of treatment. When something happens to the patient they cent out their angry in a violent manner which is not justified. Doctors should change their attitude towards patient to minis such happenings.

Many doctors treat the patients with contempt even the ones who take fees. They charge high, prescribe unnecessary and expensive medicines and tests and do not take responsibility. Many times people go the nearest pharmacy and take medicines as many cannot afford the fees of the doctors.
