I feel sorry about you use Airport Cab Service.I don't understand their rules. Because Chinese seldom use this service. We usually take a tax , or let the family drove to the airport and pick back.but as we know ,Most of the Airport cab is illegal.They did not apply for operating license from the government.If they belong to one company, call their company, you can get money back.
In fact,At least half of the people(under the age of 30) can understand English.But only a few of them can speak fluently.Because English is not the mother tongue or the working language for Chinese.So they rarely have the opportunity to speak.But in fact, most young people can read simple English articles.there are also some people can understand you if you speak in American accent------They learn English in the classroom in School in American accent.
In Shanghai, half of the young people have a college degree.most of them can speak a little English.But unfortunately, young people working in the MC or other restaurant(or Supermarkets and so on), didn't go to university.In China, the restaurant staff (Or other service industries.)get a lower levels income. most of them are the farmers' children and do not get a college degree.So you'd better go out with a Chinese colleagues.

there are no Glass cup in MC in China.
In China,MC selling water or other soft drink in bottle.
and you also can order the drink(such as Coke) in paper cup( water only be selling in the bottle in MC).In each set meal, with a cup of coke.Of course you also can order separate for a cup of coke.
If you need a glass of water . You'd better bring a cup with you. I mean,if you ask for a bottle of water.you have to pay for it .
but if you ask for water and show your cup to the waiter.He will help you fill the cup with water,it is free.But usually it's hot water.
If the waiter could not understand English, you can ask the restaurant manager for help.
Or you can look for a young student to help you.In China, high school or college students, usually can speak simple English.
But they tend to be shy and does not take the initiative to help you.You'd better ask him for help:excuse me,can you speak English?
Usually, they will answer "Yes" and help you solve the problem warmly.
If you are in the Chinese restaurant.Usually the attendant does not take the initiative to ask: do you want to drink water?
because they hope you to order the drink or wine. it will improve their sales.
If you don't want to drink and wine, you can directly ask for a glass of water.and he will give it to you and it is free.

Exactly what I did when I was there in any of the super markets. Always ask from the younger lot of people ho that they would know English better than adults. That worked in almost all cases. Students were always helpful.
As far as cabs are concerned, I don't think situation in INDIA is better than China. They try to cheat you here as well. So, I was up for that

It took us almost 6 hours (non-stop) flight from New Delhi to Shanghai.中间不停，从新德里飞到上海，总共花了大约6小时。
