It is true--rape is much more common in the "first world" countries, like USA, England, France, Canada etc. You may not believe it but it's true. I don't know the exact statistics of gang-rape but it is likely higher in the said countries too. It is not reported as much--that's all. That doesn't justify it in India--these Indians must be severely punished !! The punishment for rape must be intensified so as to serve as a deterrent !

I was really ashamed during my recent trip to Germany, where I heard some of them saying they wanted to see India, but changed their plans after reading and hearing about all these abuse cases and general warnings in place with the tourist offices there. This "reputation" will take a lot of efforts and time to undo. Where have we reached with our national ethos? It is really painful to our national pride.
