世界银行批准15亿美元贷款，支持“印度清洁”运动
WASHINGTON: The World Bank today said it has approved a $1.5 billion loan to India for its ambitious 'Clean India' campaign to support the government's efforts to ensure all citizens in rural areas have access to improved sanitation and end the practice of open defecation by 2019.
The loan, disbursed over a five-year period, will be used for the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Support Operation Project.
As per World Bank statistics, of the 2.4 billion people who lack access to improved sanitation globally, more than 750 million live in India, with 80 per cent living in rural areas.
More than 500 million of the rural population in India continue to defecate in the open, suffering from preventable deaths, illness, stunting, harassment and economic losses.
世界银行表示，已经批准贷款15亿美元给印度，支持其雄心勃勃的“清洁印度”运动，确保到2019年，印度农村人都能使用到改善的卫生设施，结束在户外方便的做法。
世界银行将分5年向印度提供总额15亿美元的贷款。
根据世界银行的统计，全球缺乏卫生设施的24亿人中，有超过7.5亿生活在印度，而这7.5亿人中有80%生活在农村地区。
印度农村仍有超过5亿人在户外方便，他们饱受一些原本可预防的疾病的困扰。

Good move and apt decision by the world Bank and the there should be results and accountability on spending of this money since the same is repaid with Interest out of tax payers money to the world Bank over a period of time.

Out of $1.5 billion only $1.5million will be spent on actual ground work/initiatives. Probably $15million will be spent on advertising and rest will be pocketed...

Also India will be clean only if fines are levied on ppl who dirty public places. Just like Road rules n penalties there should be Swachh Clean India rules levying penalties for dirtying public property, that penalty money can be used for Swachh drives further.

We Indian are inherently having dirty habits such as throwing rubbish indiscriminately, spitting on roads, even a person driving a high end car spits voluminously on traffic signals, we keep our homes clean but chuck garbage from a high floor, our toilet habits ate much to be desired and so on. Unless public is committed not to dirty the surroundings, even after 10 billion loan we will still be dirty.

我们印度人天生就坏习惯，比如乱扔垃圾，在公路随地吐痰。就连开着豪华车的车主也在交通信号灯处随地吐痰。
我们的家倒是保持得挺整洁的，就是会往外扔垃圾。
除非民众有保持周围环境整洁的意识，否则贷款100亿美元也没有用
