NEW DELHI: A Ranchi-bound Border Security Force charter flight crashed near Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on Tuesday morning, killing all the 10 people on board.
News agency PTI, citing BSF sources, said the flight was carrying paramilitary technicians. According to initial reports, the flight hit a wall at Badpola village in Dwarka, about 5 km from the Delhi airport, as soon as it took off.
"Two dead bodies have been recovered from the crash site. We are looking for more," Joint Commissioner of Police (South West Delhi) Deepender Pathak told PTI.
Home minister Rajnath Singh is expected to visit the crash site in Dwarka shortly. "The tragic news of BSF plane crash near IGI airport in New Delhi is extremely painful. Rushing to the crash site immediately," he tweeted.
The civil aviation ministry has ordered an inquiry into the crash.
