德里男子杀死妻子，称其自杀
NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old man reportedly killed his wife on Holi in their Taimoor Nagar house in southeast Delhi and tried to show that she had committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan. However, the accused, Kapil Sharma, was arrested after the autopsy report proved that she had been smothered to death.

Sharma, a male nurse, smothered his wife Parvati (27) and then took the body to a hospital telling the staff that she had committed suicide.

"When doctors found several injury marks on the body they got suspicious. They called up the New Friend's Colony police station and sent the body for postmortem. After the autopsy report confirmed murder, Sharma was arrested on Saturday," said a senior police officer.

Police have also found that Sharma was jailed for seven years in 2004 for his first wife's suicide. His first wife immolated herself 12 years ago after repeated dowry demands. A probe has also been initiated to see if the first suicide was a murder as well.

A probe by inspector Kuldeep Singh under the supervision of ACP Anil Yadav further trashed the suicide theory as the dust on the ceiling fan, from which the man claimed that his wife had hanged herself, had been untouched for long. Also, there was no chair or stool in the room on which the woman could have climbed to tie herself to the fan.

Reports suggest that Parvati had suffered three miscarriages. The couple used to often quarrel, which turned violent at times. "Sharma may have smothered his wife after a similar quarrel on Holi," said a police officer.
报告显示，Parvati曾经历过三次人流。夫妇经常吵架，有时候会演变为暴力。“也许是胡里节上的一次争吵中，Sharma窒息了他的妻子。”一位警官说。
