印度热衷美国的F/A-18
NEW DELHI: The Indian defence establishment is showing "increasing interest" in the American offer to supply F/A-18 "Super Hornet" fighters to IAF under the Make in India programme, even as US defence secretary Ash Carter is all set to come visiting from April 10 to 12 to further crank up the bilateral strategic partnership.
With IAF down to just 33 fighter squadrons, and the much-touted Rs 60,000 crore acquisition of 36 French Rafale fighters yet to be clinched a year after the Modi-Hollande summit in Paris announced the proposed deal, sources say India is now also actively exploring the possibility of going in for the F/A-18 fighters manufactured by Boeing.
印度国防界对美国供应并愿意拿到印度来生产的F/A-18大黄蜂战机越来越表现出兴趣，特别是美国国防部长拟4月10日至12日访问印度，并进一步加强双边战略合作伙伴关系。
消息人士表示，随着印度空军的战机中队减少至33个，以及备受吹捧的6000亿卢比采购36架法国阵风战机的协议在莫迪和奥朗德巴黎峰会宣布后一年还有待落实，印度现在积极探索采购波音生产的F/A-18战机的可能性。

F/A-18 is the best plane for electronic warfare. Only F-22 and F-35 are better.

Because the plane is of a higher technology than say our Tejas and will give us a foot in the door to future enhancements and to develop our own - we have to start somewhere. Besides Tejas technology is older yet we plan to make them!

It is not of higher technology than Tejas which is a four and half generation plane.

TEJAS and F-16 fall in same category. If F-16 is chosen TEJAS will be killed. If FA/18 comes it will kill Sukhoi-MKI-30. I think TEJAS will continue. F/A-18 is much much better than F-16.
