As nearly half of India reels under a drought, here is another depressing statistic. Tapped water (treated or untreated) is available for drinking purposes for 80% households in just seven of the 640 census districts of the country.
印度近一半国土遭受干旱，这里又是另一番令人沮丧的统计数据。
印度全国640个人口普查区域中，只有7个人口普查区域有80%的家庭能喝上自来水（处理过或未处理过的）。
农村家庭的情况是：
3700万个家庭要走500多米取水
7210万个家庭取水距离为500米内
2350万个家庭能喝上自来水
其他为3520万个家庭
城市家庭的情况是：
7890万个家庭能喝上自来水
1350万个家庭取水距离在100米内
1640万个家庭取水要走100多米
其他情况的有4260万个家庭

"Prevention is better than cure".... An old saying.... During summers its drought and during monsoon its flood.... The mechanism and techniques has developed in the last so many decades but still the country lack mechanism for water preservation. During monsoon there is no adequate methodology to preserve water and bring up the ground level and use the preserved water during summers. Hope the current Govt look forward to initiate a comprehensive plan for water preservation, Drought management and flood management.
