印度人在印尼走私毒品面临死刑
NEW DELHI: India is making a last-ditch effort to save an Indian national, Gurdeep Singh, who is facing death sentence in Indonesia for smuggling heroin into that country .
为了救一名印度公民，印度正在做最后的努力。据报道，印度人 Gurdeep Singh，走私海洛因到印尼，而面临死刑。
India approached the Indonesian government to facilitate filing of a mercy plea before the Indonesian president after Singh's lawyer said he could still approach the president for clemency . The Indian mission issued a note verbale -an unsigned diplomatic communication -to the Indonesian foreign ministry , saying "all legal recourse" should be exhausted before the death penalty is carried out.
Singh的律师说可以找印尼总统宽赦，为此印度找印尼总统求情。印度大使馆向印尼外交部发出一个普通照会，称在执行死刑前不放过任何法律诉讼。
An AFP report, at the time of going to press, quoted an official as saying that the country shortly after midnight executed one local and three Nigerian drug convicts by a firing squad.Though the Indian convict was not executed, his fate remained uncertain.
法新社报道引述一位官员的话，称该国在深夜枪决了一名当地人和三名尼日利亚毒贩。那名印度罪犯并未被处决，他的命运仍不确定。
"Our embassy consular officials are cam in Cilacap and have met Singh.They are reaching out to the foreign office and the senior leadership in Indonesia.They are also in constant touch with his wife and brother in India and kee them informed of the current situation," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
我们的使馆人员会见了Singh。他们找印尼外交部和高层领导，也在和Singh在国内的妻子和兄弟保持接触，不停地向他们通告最新情况。
Singh was arrested from the Jakarta international airport in 2004, after he was found in possession of 300 gm of heroin. Singh and 13 others, including a woman, are on death row for drug-related offences.
