RIO DE JANEIRO: Star Indian shooter Jitu Rai was way off the mark on Saturday in the men's 10m Air Pistol final, finishing a lowly eighth to bow out of the competition in the Rio Olympics.
Jitu, bronze medalist at Incheon Asian Games in the event in 2014, shot an overall 78.7 to finish eighth in the field of eight finalists to become the first shooter to crash out of the final round.
8月6日，在男子10米气手枪的决赛中，印度射击明星拉伊发挥失常，只拿到了第8名而退出了比赛。
拉伊是2014年仁川亚运会的铜牌获得者，他以总分78.7的成绩排第8，而遗憾地成为第一个退出决赛的选手。
Jitu is now left with another event in the Olympic Games -- 50m pistol, which is his forte.

Beyond disgraceful! Even countries like Ireland, Iceland, Finland, Sweden whose entire population is less than or equal to the population of our one single city are beating giants like US, Russia, China etc, whereas look at our country of 1.25 Billion who can''t even find bunch of athletes who can win the event.

We are all collectively responsible for this dismal performance of our athletes. India is a CRICKET CRAZY nation. Unfortunately, it is played just by a handful of countries in the world and as such has no international standing! Millions of dollars are pumped in this sport by the sponsors, because of the popularity and obvious returns. The cricketers in turn are treated as demigods!
