BENGALURU: For the past two weeks, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has had a piece of paper on his desk, waiting for a signature that could lead to people being able to travel from Chennai to Bengaluru in 30 minutes — for a fraction of the cost of an airplane ticket.

The paper is a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT), a US startup which is ho to revolutionise travel. The Hyperloop — high-speed travel in pods inside a partial-vacuum tube — is the brainchild of Tesla founder Elon Musk, who opensourced the basic design in 2013 in the form of a white paper.
这份文件是美国初创企业超级高铁交通技术公司发来的意向书,后者希望能为出行带来革命性改变。

we can experiment with hyperloop between chennai & bangalore. But saying we should ditch the bullet train projects is going too far. Hyperloop is still an unproven technology. Experimentation is fine but too much investment is a risk.

Great idea - the challenges will be on security from sabotage, prevention of mishaps, affordability and maintenance. But if all of the above are taken care of, then this will not require much of infrastructure as well.

I love the Technology. But perse, I hate the ads put out by Auto Companies. If you take a car in Mumbai, you will face a sea of People and vehicles. Ads show great cars in people less roads. If Hyper Loop can cater to Indian Population Loads, go for it. I am not sure, Bullet trains will cater to the kind of Density you see in a Mumbai City.

According to Wikipedia the estimated cost of this project for LA to SF is more than 6 billion. Chennai to Bangaluru is almost same distance then how come we are getting offer for just 1 billion?

Hyperloop can be tried on a very short route to know the economies of, safety etc before investing further.

Hyperloop for "very short route" is not feasible the cost of building,operating and maintenance is very high compared to any system of transport available today be it airplane,maglev or even bullet trains.

All the money being collected will now go the hyperbole drain.If Gadkari sign that paper it will be harakiri....first stop road accidents, rail accidents then think of speed.Who is in a hurry in India? What would one do with the tine saved?

Impractical Scientific Model1. Creation on of Vaccaum tubes of long distance impossible task2. Space like travel hazzard due to no pressure inside the hyperloop3. Practically no feasibility study.4. Acute damage prone and has zero safety factor in case of hazzadous situations.
