While the Hyperloop tech may take time to develop, I agree in principle on bullet trains being too expensive to run & set up. But unfortunately right now it has become an 'image' issue for the govt. Lets realise that setting up a bullet train line will not make us on par with Japan & . They are forcing their expensive tech on us so their companies wont go under.
