23 dead, several injured as 14 coaches of Utkal Express derail in UP

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Fourteen coaches of high-speed Utkal Express on Saturday jumped the rails , with one of them crashing into a house adjacent to the track near Khatauli this evening, claiming at least 23 lives and leaving a large number of passengers injured.

穆扎法尔讷格尔：周六，一辆特快列车的14节车厢脱轨，其中一节撞上了靠近Khatauli附近赛道的一所房子，称至少23人死亡，大量乘客受伤。

The accident occurred around 5.45pm near Khatauli town in Muzaffarnagar and left 23 people dead and over 70 injured, the Uttar Pradesh Police said. Khatauli is around 40 km from Muzaffarnagar.

Uttar Pradesh警方说，事故发生于下午5点45分左右，在穆扎法纳加尔附近的Khatauli镇，造成23人死亡，70多人受伤。Khatauli距离Muzaffarnagar大约40公里。

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered an inquiry into the derailment. He said he was personally monitoring the situation and strict action will be taken in case of any lapse.

Prabhu also announced Rs 3.5 lakh ex-gratia for those who lost their lives, Rs 50,000 for the seriously injured and Rs 25,000 for those who received minor injuries.

We must find a scapegoat soon, like in Gorakpur it was the doctor. Here maybe the station master or train driver maybe suspended. Few lakhs thrown at the hapless victims families. Then business as usual! Looks like Indian lives doesnt matter in Govt run services and institutions!
