A DAY IN NANG
On 16th February, Uni came at half past nine and surely we weren’t ready. I don’t take pride in saying that like other Indians, I too can’t be punctual. I would rather pass the blame to my wife. I fret and I grumble and I mumble because I can’t yell hahaha, I can bang my head against the wall, I will get hurt and it will matter little to her and I don't think she will change. We are always late, often very late.
Uni wanted to take us to the Sun Yet Sen Mausoleum but that he said was on top of a hill and it would take us a whole day to visit that. Besides, there was no cable car or other means of climbing the hill except on foot and my wife has age related pains and aches, so it was ruled out.
He decided to take us to some museum, I think it was Naning massacre hall but on reaching there, we found it closed for the holidays.
We crossed the road for having some food as it was well past Chinese lunch time. Uni decided upon one restaurant that served chicken curry and rice. Chicken curry was really hot and spicy though there wasn’t much chicken in that.
We went to city centre from there. I had a bad cough that had worsened over the days.
I wanted Uni to help me get some prescription from a practicing doctor but things in China work very differently from those India.
In India, I could walk in to any of those many kiosks round every street corner where, certified doctors, registered medical practitioners, fake doctors, faith healers and hundreds of such people who claim to have qualification and powers to remedy people of their ailments and maladies sit (lay) in search of prospective clients. We ended up in the pharmacies selling expectorants and lozenges.

Uni was in constant touch with Xubing who was looking forward to our visit and he asked Xubing to show me to a doctor upon our arrival at iamen. Even though Uni had told me time and again that his timing were flexble, still I wasn’t very comfortable at the thought that he was spending precious lot of time with us.
He took us to a park and told me that he would need to go for a few hours to attend to his work and that he would join us later. We spent the rest of the day roaming in the park.
February afternoon sunshine was pleasantly warm. We sat on the low boundary wall running along the lake and watched the people promenading, young mothers constantly instructing their children, young couples with dreams in their eyes, expectant mothers glowing in pregnant glow, old people lim along and all absorbed in animated discussions unintelligible to us. They threw curious glances and smiles at us as they acknowledged us different from them. A young mother's firmness, insisting on her child to pick up a candy wrapper and put it in the dustbin amused us. Deep pink buds of Wee Cherry sprouting from the branches denuded by harsh winter, a semblance to spring, beckoning it on the eve of Spring festival gave a whole lot of substance and meaning to the festival that draws its name from the hope that sustains life on this planet.
Sun descended slowly and shadows lengthened. A large group of people gathered under a rain shelter immersed in their games dices and cards oblivious of the happenings around them sought pleasures in small victories over their opponents. Uni had told us how to get back to the nearest subway station and as the evening set in,we walked back and came to the hotel.

Hello Cindy,
Nice to see you here after a long time. I am here in China and I have seen live telecast of the Chinese Military might. Though the display was impressive but I appreciate i 's declaration of reducing military strength by 300,000 more than the display of military might because I believe that love alone can win the hearts of the people. Weapons can subjugate them but can never win them.

Hi Naveet,
Today is Chinese's people celebrating V-Day and they have conducted very huge and interesting military parade... below is the youtube link (completed full HD) and more than 90% of the advanced weapons are made by themselves. I knew majority Indian people love peace and like to compare with Chinese, therefore I am strongly suggest that you watch this video and then share it to all your friends... hope you guys enjoy.
V-Day military parade.

Dear Navneet,
Nice photographs depicting the final days of the winter and the blooming of spring. The side walks reflect their aesthetic desire to make them look pleasant. That they could spend some time in public enjoying in private indulgence shows like like most of us, they believe in seeking small pleasures where ever they can find it !
