Pictures and footage have emerged on the Chinese social media showing a moving beam of light in the night sky over Beiing.

The public wondered what the airborne object could be. Some queried if it could be a UFO while others joked it looked like a massive torch.

The phenomenon is said to have been caused by a rocket launch, according to Chinese media reports.

据称，根据相关信息和照片，可以初步推断这可能是一次火箭发射引起的。
