There are shades of it in my workplace..and as an engineer..looking at my workplace..I reckon 90% of the workforce can be removed for automation. And I don't mean in the manufacturing process only either..I am talking about office jobs too..Advanced sims and emulations of AI can replace most of the office admin too within 10 years or so. UBI is going to have to come in at some point. WE just need to use OUR VOTE to force politicians to do the right thing..From a philosophical view..does work make you FREE? I'd say it does not, if you are toiling and laboring for another, you are not free. In truth, we should welcome this..robots and automation means efficiency..we are an advancing technological society..we have to make sure our politicians ADJUST THEIR thinking...What is the point of raising the retirement age to say 68 when robots will be the replacement in so many areas.

Jobs are never lossed, they transfer. Humans will be supervising robot assembly lines rather than being part of the assembly line. Fewer workers with shorter shifts with more free time. Quality of life improves for all.

Consider this a wake up call! If you work in unskilled manual labour this is your warning to start thinking about planning your career more seriously! Time to start reading a few books, attending adult learning evening classes, etc. The unskilled labour market is about to be decimated in the coming decade, you either start preparing now or you will be thrown on the scrapheap and left to rot. There is no room for complacency if you want to keep a roof over your head.

Lots of the professions like Accounting,Law and Architecture just to name a few aren't going to be all that chuff either. Every computer is a robot.They don't all have arms waiving about putting things together.
