EW DELHI: "From Dehradun to Dublin, from Shanghai to Chicago, from Jakarta to Johannesburg, yoga is everywhere," declared Prime Minister Narendra Modi today on the occasion of the 4th International Yoga Day.

Even as the PM spoke, people were celebrating the day with mass yoga performances everywhere, from beaches to mountain tops - even at 19,000 feet above sea level in the Himalayas like the ITBP 'Himveers' in Ladakh. Not just India, countries around the world are celebrating today as International Yoga Day. And that, said the PM, is a matter of pride for the country.

新德里：今天莫迪总理在第四届国际瑜伽日宣布：“从德拉敦到都柏林，从上海到芝加哥，从雅加达到约翰内斯堡，瑜伽无处不在。”

正当莫迪总理发表讲话时，各地的人们都在举行大规模的瑜伽表演来庆祝这一节日，从海边到山顶——即使是在喜马拉雅山脉海拔19000英尺的地方也在庆祝，比如拉达克的印藏边界警察部队(ITBP)“Himveers”。不仅是印度，今天世界各国都在庆祝国际瑜伽日。莫迪总理表示，这是国家的骄傲。

"It's a proud moment for everyone that today, wherever in the world the sun rises people welcome its warmth and brightness with yoga. From Dehradun to Dublin, Shanghai to Chicago, and Jakarta to Johannesburg, yoga is everywhere," said PM Modi, at a yoga event at picturesque Dehradun's Forest Research Institute.

This "biggest mass moment" has shown the world the path from ill health to well-being, said Modi. As well, this "ancient yet modern" discipline gives hope for the future of humankind, he said.

这是让每个人都感到骄傲的时刻，今天无论在世界何处，只要有太阳升起的地方，人们都在用瑜伽来迎接太阳的温暖和光辉。“从德拉敦到都柏林，从上海到芝加哥，从雅加达到约翰内斯堡，瑜伽无处不在”。莫迪总理在风景如画的德拉敦森林研究所出席一场瑜伽活动时说到。

莫迪说，在这个“最重大的日子”，瑜伽向世界展示了通往健康和幸福的途径，这种“古典而现代”的学科也给人类的未来带来了希望。

Yoga is beautiful because it is ancient yet modern, it is constant yet evolving.

"Instead of dividing, yoga unites. Instead of furthering animosity, yoga assimilates. Instead of increasing suffering, yoga heals," said Modi, explaining how the discipline can lead to a calm, creative and content life.

Along with the Prime Minister, around 50,000 yoga enthusiasts kick-started International Yoga Day celebrations in Dehradun.

The first International Yoga Day was observed all over the world on June 21, 2015, when more than 30,000 people, including PM Modi, performed yoga asanas at Rajpath in New Delhi.

The idea of International Yoga Day was first proposed by the PM during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014. He also suggested June 21 be observed as International Yoga Day all over the world, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world.

As PM Modi reminded the country today, "the proposal for yoga at the UN was supported in one voice by a majority of countries."

跟随莫迪总理一起，约有5万名瑜伽爱好者在德拉敦开始了国际瑜伽日的庆祝活动。

2015年6月21日是第一个全球共同庆祝的国际瑜伽日，包括莫迪总理在内的3万多人在新德里的国王大道一起进行瑜伽体式练习。

2014年9月27日，莫迪总理在联合国大会上发表演讲时首次提出国际瑜伽日的构想。他还建议将6月21日定为全球的国际瑜伽日，因为这是北半球一年中最长的一天，对于世界上很多国家而言有着特殊的意义。

今天莫迪总理还提起：“当时联合国大多数国家都异口同声一致支持国际瑜伽日的提议。”
