NEW DELHI: Mercedes-Benz, the world's top luxury carmaker, plans to manufacture electric vehicles in India at its factory at Chakan in Pune. The German auto major, which leads the luxury car market in India, feels that the country will emerge as one of the key markets for electrics in the coming years, in line with the government's focus on non-combustion technologies as well as efforts to tackle the rising pollution across top cities.

世界上最顶级豪车厂梅赛德斯奔驰，计划在印度普纳的工厂生产电动汽车。这家目前领先印度豪车市场的德国汽车厂商，认为印度未来几年将崛起为主要的电动车市场之一。

Going electric and car-pool is the need of hour. i have been using electric 2-wheeler for 6 years now and it is good for short runs up to 20kms. We need rapid research on fast battery charging and higher capacity (with lower load and volume) which will take e-vehicles to next level.

This is a welcome move. Global auto giants taking part in India''s clean energy drive. I had read in a auto car mazagine about Benz view on E Car.
