Pilot dies as IAF's MiG-21 fighter plane crashes in Kangra

DHARAMSHALA: An Indian Air Force fighter pilot died on Wednesday after the jet he was flying crashed at Fatehpur area of Kangra district at around 1.30pm. The crash site is located adjacent to the Pathankot air force base. A court of inquiry has been ordered to establish the cause of the accident.

达兰萨拉：周三下午1点30分左右，一名印度空军战斗机飞行员驾驶的飞机在坎格拉地区的法特普尔地区坠毁，飞行员死亡。坠机地点位于帕坦科特空军基地附近。调查法院已领命查明事故原因。

The fighter pilot of the MiG 21 Indian aircraft that crashed in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district has died.

Kangra's superintendent of police, Santosh Patial while confirming that it was MiG-21, said, “ Some pieces of flesh have been reported but there has been no civilian causality so far."

As per local villagers who gathered in huge numbers to witness the scene, the plane caught fire mid-air and fell down while it was still on fire.

“Plane scattered into pieces and a hole was created at the spot where it fell down” said one of the eye witnesses.

Meanwhile, two air force choppers have landed at the crash site to carry out evacuation process.
