A critically ill woman has been selling her smiles in the street in China to raise money for a kidney transplant.

Zhu Ya, 26, says on a signboard that she will smile at the pedestrians for one minute as long as they give her one yuan (11p). The former art teacher also sells stickers showing smiley faces while begging near a metro station in Chongqing.

卖笑自救。为了筹集肾移植的手术费，患重病的26岁女子在街头“卖笑”，一分钟收一元。

她在布告板上写道，谁给一元，就对着他笑一分钟。

这位前艺术老师，还在重庆一地铁站旁边卖画有笑脸的贴纸。
