An Indian student has been arrested for killing an aspiring model before stuffing her body in a suitcase and dum it by the side of a road.

The suspect – who has been named in reports as both Syed Hasan and Muzammil Syed - was taken into custody after Mansii Dixt's body was found in Malad, a western suburb of Mumbai, on Monday.

Police said the 20-year-old model had recently moved to the city with dreams of becoming a model and met Syed online.

The pair were reportedly in Syed's flat when they got into an argument and he struck her with a sharp object.

Deputy Police Commissioner Sangramsingh Nishandar said Syed is then believed to have stuffed the victim's body into a suitcase and left on the side of a quiet road in Malad.

He added that investigators are working to discover what sparked the argument between the pair.
