Newborn baby boy is rescued by police in India after his mother hanged herself while he was still attached to her umbilical cord

A baby in India has been miraculously saved by police after the child's mother took her own life, while her newborn son was still attached by the umbilical cord.

Officers noticed the baby under the 36-year-old woman's sari after responding to an emergency call from her husband.

警方在接到这名36岁女子丈夫的报警电话后，赶到现场，发现女子纱丽下的婴儿。

The baby boy was then cleaned and wrapped up by the police after they found his mother had hanged herself in a cowshed in the town of Katni, Madhya Pradesh state, on Thursday morning.

周四早上，警方发现这名男婴的母亲在中央邦卡特尼镇的一个牛棚内上吊自杀，随后警方对男婴进行了清洗并用毯子包裹好。

The women has been named by local police as Laxmi Thakur.

Police officer Kavita Saini said: 'When I reached the spot and examined the body, I found a baby dangling under her sari.'We cleaned the baby, wrapped him in a blanket and waited for medical help to arrive. The baby is healthy and we have moved him to a district hospital.'

I wonder if this could possibly have been post natal psychosis triggered by the birth. I¿ve read about some awful cases of this. Either way this is a desperately sad situation. I¿m very sorry this woman experienced such a sad and frightening ending. I hope the little one gets well and lives a full life.
