This is due to poor water management by successive governments. Encroaching lakes and water channels, poor maintenance of water canal by not dredging regularly.Loss of trees due to greed by real estate promoters.

There are many more countries in the World that are becoming increasingly water stressed owing to drought, mismanagement and melting glaciers which reduce river flows. This problem is going to get a lot worse and represents an exstential threat to millions of people. Strange how the main stream media virtually ignores stories like this
