NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lashed out at those who criticised India's potential to become a 5-trillion dollar economy and called them "professional pessimists". In his first visit to Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, after becoming PM for the second time, Modi explained the meaning and importance of India becoming a $5-trillion economy.

新德里:周六，莫迪总理猛烈抨击了那些质疑印度能否成为5万亿美元经济体潜力的人，称他们为“职业悲观主义者”。莫迪连任后，首次访问人民院选区瓦拉纳西，阐述了印度成为一个5万亿美元经济体的意义和重要性。

"The size of the cake matters," the PM said while explaining why it is important for India to be a $5-trillion economy.

"I am confident that we will achieve the goal of $5-trillion economy in 5 years, but some people ask what is the need for this and why is it being done? This is the section which is called 'professional pessimists'," Modi said.

莫迪总理在阐述印度成为5万亿美元经济体的重要性时表示：“经济规模很重要。我有信心，我们将在5年内实现5万亿美元的经济目标。但是，有人问，有必要这样做吗，为什么要这样做?这些人就是所谓的‘职业悲观主义者’。”

The PM asked people to beware of "professional pessimists" who always create doubt, fear and think that nothing is achievable.

莫迪总理要求人们警惕“职业悲观主义者”，他们总是制造怀疑、恐惧，认为一切都无法实现。

PM Modi further stated that, "Many might have doubts that a target of $5-trillion dollar economy is beyond India's capability and is not possible for Indians to achieve. But, despite tough times in the past, India has always been moving forward. This time too, we shall move ahead with determination and achieve the goal."

莫迪总理还表示：“许多人可能怀疑，5万亿美元经济目标超出了印度的能力，印度人不可能实现这个目标的。尽管过去经历过艰难时期，印度一直在前进。这一次，我们也要坚定不移地前进，实现这个目标。”

i have been a modi supporter since 2014.. have voted for him twice.. but this budget was damp squid.. It really is a directionless budget with no major policy decisions.. nothing.. just repeating the words electric and increasing the cost of fuel.
