Uttar Pradesh: 'Rapists' on bail set survivor ablaze a year after gang rape in Unnao

UNNAO: A rape survivor was allegedly set ablaze after being doused in kerosene at a village under Bihar police station limits in Unnao district in the wee hours of Thursday.

乌纳奥：据报道，周四凌晨，在乌纳奥区比哈尔警察局管辖的一个村庄，一名强奸幸存者被浇上汽油后点燃。

The survivor was rushed to the district hospital and then referred to Trauma Centre, Lucknow after her condition deteriorated. "She has told investigators that she was set on fire by the two accused who had raped her a year ago and were presently on bail. They were accompanied by three of their two associates," police said.

The survivor was going to Raebareli with her parents to pursue the case at 4am on Wednesday when she was attacked.

DGP OP Singh said, "The incident is very unfortunate and three of the accused, including Hari Shankar Trivedi and Shubham Trivedi, have been arrested. One accused is absconding."

"The case was transferred to Raebareli following court orders a few months ago. We have recorded the statement of the survivor.

Meanwhile, Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi has lashed out at Union home minister Rajnath Singh and chief minister Yogi Adityanath for deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
