KUALA LUMPUR: India move to restrict palm oil imports from Malaysia will create a huge challenge for the world second biggest producer of the edible oil as India has been its top market for the past five years.

India, the world largest buyer of edible oils, last week restricted imports of refined palm oil and effectively halted all palm oil purchases from Malaysia in retaliation over the Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's comments on Kashmir and citizenship law.

Really good decision by the Indian Government. But we need to push harder. The decision to substitute the supply with Indonesian palm oil will further strengthen our relationship with Indonesia.
