NEW DELHI: India tested its nuclear-capable K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), designed to have a strike range of 3,500 km, from an undersea platform in the shape of a submersible pontoon off the coast of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

Though there was no official word on the test of the ‘strategic missile’, which will equip the country’s nuclear-powered submarines, sources said the solid-fuelled K-4 was test-fired for a range of around 2,200 km “successfully” in the Bay of Bengal around noon on Sunday.

印度1月19日在安得拉邦沿海成功试射了具有战略意义的K-4潜射中程弹道导弹。

K-4是印度自行研制一款固体燃料潜射中程弹道导弹，射程达到3500公里，可以搭载核弹头。

这款具有显著的战略意义的核导弹将改装到“歼敌者”级核潜艇上。

The strongest weapon of any country is its economy. No amount of military hardware can compensate for the fact that our economy is tanking. Who are we going to fight when our economy is collapsing. The armaments are all well and good, but we have to have our priorities right. We will not have a major war with Pakistan since both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers. We are not going to fight . All the build up is meaningless, if we cannot feed our people.

On the one hand we are showcasing these submarines on the other hand we are buying the most basic of rifles from US. We need to have laser focus on the economy. USSR collapse and broke up, not because it lacked military muscle, but because it could not feed its people....
