Great one. Lovely pictures, and such beautiful sculptures.Its great that due to the friends you have built all over China you are able to post pics and details of interior places in China, which otherwise would not register to us here in India.
You mentioned about the Muslim (Hui) minority people- just wanted to know how are minorities treated in China??
The beautiful sand sculpture pics reminded me of our famous sand sculptor Patnaik from Puri who does his sand sculptors on Puri beach.
You mentioned about coal deposits- couldnt help wondering do they have coalgate scams there also!!!!
Lovely pics and write up- in recognition of your efforts they may offer you the mayors post of Yinchuan!!

China to treat any people are equal, since the Han population greater. So other ethnic can get more benefits than Han.

Yes I am glad that minorities are taken care by the Chinese Government, and I assume there is harmony among people of different religions.
This is good as it is sad when people fight in the name of religion.

Thanks for your compliments. The friend circle is rapidly spreading. I might have to keep a secretary to manage my mail :). At social level there is no eschewing between the communities but the Muslims don't intermarry. The maintain their religious identity. From time to time there is some news or the other of some disturbance in that part of the country and last time when it happened it also appeared in the media that the locals had a grudge against government sponsored oppression. The press in China is not so free so it's difficult to say if those people are really discriminated or not but the govt. is prompt in suppressing any such acts of dissent and violence and the culprits are quickly brought to justice and almost always executed.

China has huge coal deposits and coal rich barons or are they the Party Bosses turned barons? Hahahah- Chinese Ministers and bureaucrats are no different from their Indian counterparts but they are often caught and executed while here they go scot free :)

Just wanted to ask how popular is Taoism in China today. These principles are based on the teachings of the great Chinese saint lao-Tzu almost 2500 years back but are so relevant even now.
I am personally fascinated by his teachings and they are apt even now. Do Chinese follow Taoism?

It depends on how you definite Taoism. if you consider it as one religion, they are rare. but if you consider it as one philosophy. almost every chinese is Taoist included me.
I remember one Bollywood movie I ever see. the name is "O@h M G" by Salman Khan. I love it because the worldview of main character is really close to Taoism worldview which I know.

taoism is the native and eldest religion of China, emdody in everyday life:traditional medicine,cooking and wedding etc,but it's doctrine of taoism is govern by doing nothing,so it can not compete with islam ,buddism and other religion.

yes, I check your profile and I guess that Pic is Lao-Tzu. I am glad to see my guess is right.
but I think I cannot discuss Taoism with you because I do not have much research on it. in compare with Taoism, I prefer legalism more than Taoism. and I am prefer to do research on foreign culture like Hindu culture. the traditional culture of my country is not perfect, that's why our saint teach us the importance of learning. like Confucius, he also learn from Lao-Tzu and he praise Lao-Tzu is a great man. so i do learning on other culture more than my learning on Taoism. maybe you can discuss with other chinese like Fong or Shen Yi. I think they may have better reasearch on Taoism.
