'Bid to camouflage illegal occupation': India slams Pak's move to alter Gilgit-Baltistan's status

NEW DELHI: India on Sunday strongly rejected Pakistan's move to grant provisional-provincial status to Gilgit-Baltistan and said that Islamabad has no right to alter the status of territories it has occupied "illegally and forcibly".

新德里消息：周日，印度强烈反对巴基斯坦授予吉尔吉特-巴尔蒂斯坦临时省地位的举动，称伊 斯兰堡没有权利改变其“非法强行占领”领土的地位。

"India firmly rejects attempt by Pakistan to bring material changes to a part of Indian territory under its illegal and forcible occupation," ministry of external affairs (MEA) spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said during a media briefing.

印度外交部发言人阿努拉格·斯里瓦斯塔瓦在新闻发布会上说:“ 印度坚决反对巴基斯坦对其非法强行占领的印度部分领土进行实质性改变的企图。”

"The government of Pakistan has no locus standi on territories illegally and forcibly occupied by it," Srivastava said.

India's firm rebuke came hours after it was reported that the Imran Khan government has granted provisional-provincial status to Gilgit-Baltistan.

报道称，伊姆兰汗政府暂时授予吉尔吉特-巴尔蒂斯坦临时省地位。几个小时后，印度就发出了强烈谴责。

"One of the reasons for me coming to Gilgit-Baltistan is to announce that we have decided to grant Gilgit-Baltistan the provisional provincial status," Khan reportedly said during his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan.
