Gujarat: 15 die as truck runs over workers slee on pavement in Surat

SURAT: At least 15 labourers from Rajasthan were mowed down by a speeding dumper truck on Kim-Mandvi highway near Surat in the early hours of Tuesday.

苏拉特：周二凌晨，在苏拉特附近的一条公路上，一辆高速行驶的卡车撞向正在路边熟睡的工人，导致至少15名来自拉贾斯坦邦的工人死亡。

The labourers were slee on the pavement when the truck driver lost control and crushed them.

工人们当时正在路边睡觉，卡车突然失控，从他们身上碾过。

The accident took place around 40km from Surat city on National Highway-48.

事故发生在距离苏拉特市约40公里的48国道上。

According to police, around 20 people suffered serious or minor injuries while 12 died on the spot. One person died while being shifted to a hospital in Surat, two more succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

据警方称，约20人重伤或轻伤，12人当场死亡。一人在被送往苏拉特一家医院时死亡，另有两人在医院因伤势过重而不治身亡。

"Deeply saddened to know many labourers from Banswara, Rajasthan have lost lives after a truck ran over them as they were slee near the road in Surat. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for speedy recovery of those injured," tweeted Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot.

拉贾斯坦邦首席部长阿肖克·格洛特在推特上写道：“得知来自拉贾斯坦邦班斯瓦拉的多名工人在苏拉特的公路旁睡觉时被一辆卡车碾过而丧生，深感悲痛。我向遇难者家属表示衷心的慰问，并祈祷伤者早日康复。”

The mishap occurred when a tractor loaded with sugarcane coming from the opposite direction collided with the truck which was heading towards Mandvi from Kim.

事故发生时，一辆满载甘蔗的拖拉机从反方向驶来，与一辆从Kim开往Mandvi的卡车相撞。

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences over the accident and also announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to next of the kin of the deceased from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

莫迪总理对这起事故表示哀悼，并宣布从总理国家救济基金(PMNRF)向死者的亲属每人发放20万卢比抚恤金。
