NEW DELHI: A four-to-five-feet wide concrete wall – built by Delhi Police – now runs across the Delhi-Chandigarh national highway, cutting off the protesters of Samyukta Kisan Morcha from the capital.

新德里：德里警方修建了一堵4 - 5英尺宽的混凝土墙，横亘在德里-昌迪加尔国道上，阻止抗议者进入首都。

Behind this wall are five layers of barricades in a zone of about 1.5km, denying the farmers access to two dozen mobile toilet vans and Delhi Jal Board water tankers.

The protesters are disappointed, but not despairing. “We are farmers. We will bore tubewells if the need arises. The government should not think that it will intimidate us. We will not go back to our villages without securing the future of our children,” said Kuljit Singh, a farmer from Patiala.

A BKU volunteer from Kaithal, Manjit Dhillon, said the fortification had been carried not to prevent farmers from going towards Delhi but to cut off all the support from the Delhi side. “Earlier, many water tankers used to come from that side of the road but now we are dependent only on tankers from Haryana. Many are buying packaged water bottles,” he said. Some farmers are relying on RO water plants set up by Khalsa Aid to fill 20-litre jerry cans for the tents. Many establishments along the highway are also hel them with water.

While Delhi Police took the steps after the Republic Day mayhem during the farmers’ tractor parade, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said the intense fortification of the borders and closing down of roads was a strategy to turn locals against farmers. “It is a well-thought-out plan on the part of Delhi Police and the Centre to seal the borders because that will only inconvenience the public, which they will use to mobilise them against us,” Tikait said on Tuesday.

I am unable to sympathize with these so-called farmers. The mayhem they created on Republic day was very bad. Still the government said that it is willing to put farm laws on hold for 18 months. Due to stubborness, the so-called farmers are not accepting this offer from the government.

The new farm rules is good for progress. People always fear from change, that's a human nature but after all the farming rules are good. It may required few amendment for which gov is ready. These are middle man who will have much loss after new farming bill.
