AHMEDABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s niece, Sonal Modi, who had sought the BJP nomination to contest the Ahmedabad civic body polls, on Thursday failed to get a ticket with the party citing new rules for candidates.

艾哈迈达巴德：印度总理纳伦德拉·莫迪的侄女索娜尔·莫迪曾寻求获得印度人民党提名，参加艾哈迈达巴德公民机构的选举，结果未能如愿。

The BJP announced its candidates for the coming elections to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), but Sonal Modi’s name does not figure in the list.

印度人民党宣布了即将举行的艾哈迈达巴德市政公司(AMC)选举的候选人，索娜尔的名字没有出现在名单中。

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Sonal Modi had said she sought the BJP ticket from the Bodakdev ward of the AMC. Sonal Modi, a homemaker in her late 30s, is the daughter of PM Modi’s brother Prahlad Modi, who owns a fair price shop in the city and is president of the Gujarat Fair Price Shops Association.

周二，索娜尔对记者表示，她寻求Bodakdev选区的人民党候选人提名。近40岁的家庭主妇索娜尔·莫迪是莫迪总理的弟弟普拉拉德·莫迪的女儿，普拉拉德·莫迪在市区拥有一家平价商店，同时也是古吉拉特邦平价商店协会的主席。

The rules are the same for everybody, state BJP president C R Paatil said when asked the denial of the ticket to Sonal Modi. The Gujarat BJP recently announced that relatives of party leaders will not be considered for tickets for the upcoming polls. Sonal Modi had, however, said that she had sought the ticket as a BJP worker, not as the niece of the PM.
