Gujarat man infected with Covid-19 after taking 2nd dose of vaccine

AHMEDABAD: A health official in Gujarat has tested positive for coronavirus days after taking the second dose of the vaccine against the infection, officials said Saturday.

艾哈迈达巴德：周六，古吉拉特邦一名卫生官 员被检测出呈阳性，不久前他刚注射第二剂新冠疫苗。

The man, a health officer in Gandhinagar's Dehgam taluka, had taken the first dose on January 16 and the second one on February 15. He had fever and and his samples were examined, which detected the Covid-19 infection on February 20 said Gandhinagar's Chief Health Officer Dr MH Solanki.

该男子是甘地讷格尔的一名卫生官 员，他于1月16日接种了第一剂新冠疫苗，2月15日接种了第二剂。甘地纳格尔首席卫生官MH Solanki博士表示，他发烧了，我们对他的样本进行了检测，2月20日检测出感染了新冠。

"He is in home isolation as his symptoms are mild. He has told me that he is fit to join work from Monday," Solanki added.

The CHO said it generally takes around 45 days for antibodies against the infection to develop after both the doses of the vaccine are administered.

He also said one must wear a mask and adhere to all Covid-19 protocols like social distancing etc. even after taking both doses of the vaccine against the infection in order to be on the safe side.

As on Friday evening, Gujarat has a caseload of 2,72,240, including 4,413 deaths.

If symptoms are mild then why report such news, but again they failed to report which vaccine had the patient took. Personally, vaccination does not mean 100% protection, some vaccines just prevent the disease from becoming serious.

Immunity is attained 2 weeks after the 2nd dose. Moreover, no vaccine has 100% efficacy. AstraZeneca-Oxford has 62% while Covaxn has 81% efficacy which means 2out of 5 with Covishield & one out of five Covaxn persons can get infection even 2 weeks after 2nd dose.

Even after vaccination, you could be infected with Covid but body would have been prepared and tuned to attack the virus and kill it which may result in a milder case like a flu than a serious disease that needs hospitalization.
