UP CM Yogi Adityanath orders patrolling to curb disposal of bodies in rivers

LUCKNOW: In a bid to stop people from disposing of bodies in rivers, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday ordered patrolling by the SDRF and PAC. The CM’s directions have come as a number of bodies were found floating in the Ganga recently, triggering suspicion that the abandoned corpses could be those of Covid patients.

The State Disaster Response Force and the Provincial Armed Constabulary should patrol rivers and ensure that no bodies are disposed of in rivers, the CM ordered, according to a statement. He said in areas on banks of rivers, committees including village development officers and village heads should be formed to ensure that no one dumps bodies in rivers.

首席部长下令，国家灾难反应部队（SDFR）和地方武装警察部队（PAC）在河边巡逻，确保不再有尸体被抛入河中。他说，在河岸附件，应该成立由村发展官员和村长组成的委员会，以确保没有人再把尸体扔到河里。

“All those who died deserve cremation with respect. The state government has already sanctioned funds for performing the last rites,” the CM said. “No one should be allowed to dispose of bodies in rivers,” the CM added, stressing that if need be, a fine may be imposed at the local level to prevent it.

“The government is also running a special campaign for cleaning of rivers. Home, urban and rural development departments should make a policy to prevent it,” he added.

Yogi never bothered to builld a governing entity as the CM. He was more interested in running the Kumbha Mela or lighting diyas or running election campaigns in other states, or going to Gorakhpur for his second job.
