UN report: India's IT rules don't conform to global rights norms

联合国报告：印度的IT规定不符合全球权利规范

NEW DELHI: UN Special Rapporteurs have written to the Indian government saying that India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, in their current form, do not conform with international human ri hts norms.

新德里：联合国特别报告员致信印度政府称，印度2021年发布的信息技术(中介媒体准则和数字媒体道德规范)规定不符合国际准则。

The report said as a global leader in technology innovation, India has the potential to develop a legislation that can place it at the forefront of efforts to protect digital rights. However, the substantially broadened scope of the Rules is likely to do just the opposite, it said.

该报告称，作为全球技术创新的领导者，印度可以制定一项立法，使其处于保护数字权利的最前沿。然而，该机构表示，大幅扩大《规则》的适用范围可能适得其反。

India must reply back to UN and advise them to reform their outdated laws and conform to new Indian standards.
