Extra-large Homegrown Tunnel Boring Machine Rolls off Production Line in China

An extra-large tunnel boring machine (TBM) with independent intellectual property rights rolled off the production line in Changsha City of central China's Hunan Province on Saturday.

The 135-meter machine has a total weight of 3,000 tons and an installed power of 7,500 kilowatt (kW).

周六，一台具有自主知识产权的特大型隧道掘进机(TBM)在中国中部湖南省长沙市下线。这台135米长的机器总重量为3000吨，装机功率为7500千瓦。

一台刀盘涂装采用熊猫图案设计的超大直径盾构机10日正式下线。这台盾构机名为“锦绣号”，开挖直径达12.79米。是中国迄今研制具有完全自主知识产权的最大直径土压平衡盾构机。

tunnel boring machines (TBM) used to be produced by less than a handful of nations. china bought the TBM but it had to be serviced by its manufacturer which could take days with long down time. so China assembled a team of engineers to design and manufacture its own.

China now manufactures its own TBM and manufacture for others as well
