NEW DELHI: August 14 will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day in the memory of the struggles and sacrifices of people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Saturday.

新德里：印度总理纳伦德拉·莫迪周六宣布，将8月14日定为“分裂恐怖纪念日”，以纪念人民的斗争和牺牲。

The Prime Minister said the pain of partition can never be forgotten.

莫迪总理称分裂的痛苦永远不会被忘记。

"Millions of our sisters and brothers were displaced and many lost their lives due to mindless hate and violence. In memory of the struggles and sacrifices of our people, August 14 will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day," PM Modi tweeted.

莫迪发推称：“由于盲目的仇恨和暴力，我们数百万的姐妹兄弟流离失所，许多人失去了生命。为了纪念我们人民的斗争和牺牲，8月14日将被定为分裂恐怖纪念日。”

"May the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day keep reminding us of the need to remove the poison of social divisions, disharmony and further strengthen the spirit of oneness, social harmony and human empowerment," he added.
