When we were hearing about environmental protection, I was wondering if there even IS an ecosystem out there?  Most barren looking place, and there's a lot of competition for this honor.  How do you make a highway out of sand, anyway?   This is so amazing.  The former "Sea of Death" now is just a long, boring drive!  This is quite an improvement.  I hope that in time something will slowly grow along the road, one day there might be a little shade in spots.   In my imagination everyone who drives on this highway could bring a jug of water!  Then stop at a certain spot (you could use the GPS system if you wanted the same spot every time) and water something.  Even if thousands of people did this you might not SEE a change, but it would be a nice gesture and there might eventually be a few trees here and there with people's names on them.

Recurring sand storms will render the highway unusable and it would need massive sand removal each time a sand storm occurs. Tampering with ecosystems is bad. In such inhospitable terrain with inclement climate, air travel is best for drop supplies and ferrying passengers.
