RCEP has been touted as a ray of hope in the asia pacific region. RCEP amounts to 30 per cent of world's GDP. It includes 15 Asia-Pacific nations. However India has often expressed concern that there are inadequate protection against surges in imports.

Among RECP countries, a large number of products are duty-free, and some products have very low tariffs. India rejected RECP on the grounds that it could allow its own industry to develop. This logic is obviously weird. Because RECP countries will not import Indian products with high tariffs, and foreign investment will not invest in India with high tariffs.
