The Indian Navy on Friday tested the Rafale-M(Marine) fighter aircraft at the INS Hansa in Goa as it plans to procure a batch of fighter jets for indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) Vikrant. France sent a Rafale maritime fighter aircraft to demonstrate its combat capabilities with India specific requirements. In a visit last month, French Defence Minister indicated that France will be interested to supply the carrier-based jets.

Many were saying that it is not feasible to buy Rafale(M) for IAC 1 as it will not fit in it, and also wings are not foldable, but navy is testing these fighter in Goa. So it would be interesting how will navy manage to place these on IAC 1.

Also these testing should have done earlier when IAC 1 was in making not after it's ready to be inducted, kee in mind the fact that navy would have know the size/area specifications of IAC 1 and Foreign Companies will take atleast 2-3years to deliver 57 fighter.

Yahan sab ulta pulta hai.. navy earlier rejected the naval version of tejas because of its single engine but they will test gripen(single engine). Navy is working seriously on tedbf project (twin engine deck base fighter). First jet will be rolled out in 2026 ( same year of AMCA). So why buying foreign jets?? Either navy is wasting taxpayers money or they are unclear about their requirement.. if navy purchase any of these jets it will take nearly than five years as we have seen in case of Rafael so question is what will Navy do with its empty carrier for 4-5 years??

Stop imports. Buy 10 odd Naval LCA in mk1A configeration till TEDBF is ready. 42 Mig29K + 10 Naval LCA mk1A is not a bad combo.
