In fact, if you want to enjoy life in China, it's great to live in the third and fourth tier cities. It's not as fast-paced as big cities, but the facilities are as complete as big cities, the cost of living is lower than big cities, and people in small cities prefer to enjoy life.

Inspite of being tier 3 city, it is so organized, tidy and developed! Their tier 3 cities are more developed than our tier 1 cities! It shows how far, far behind we are and there is absolutely no denying. Problem is, we just not learning enough.

Me and my sister r there back in 2016, we were absolutely love this little city.  It's so pretty and clean.  Yichang natural landscape is breathtaking as well.

In China, tier 1 means 4 cities, Beiing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen. Tier 2 means half of Province’s capital cities plus some very rich city, like Suzhou. Tier 3 cities in fact are pretty good cities in China.

I did not visit this city before, so did a google and found some details.

Yichang is a 3rd-tier city, ranked at the 67th, populaton is at 3.9 million, GDP at 80 billion US$, GDP per capita is around US$ 20,000.  

Chinese cities are divided into "first-tier, new first-tier, second-tier, third-tier, fourth-tier, and fifth-tier". As of January 2021, there are 4 first-tier cities, 15 new first-tier cities, 30 second-tier cities, 70 third-tier cities, 90 fourth-tier cities, and 128 fifth-tier cities.

Base on the netizens survey, the best livable cities are not the first tier cities, such as Beiing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, shengzhen, because the expensive cost of housing.

The best livable cities in China are some 2ed or 3th tire cities, such as ZhuHai, DaLian, Chengdu, Changsha, kunming, QingDao......

I can see why luxury goods manufacturers look at China as a major market.  In US, many luxury goods stores are closed.  There are a few department stores left, barely surviving.
