There are 2 types of people in this world. Those who think with their hearts (compassion) and those who think with their heads (ego). China's is able to think with it's heart (800M delivered out of poverty, common prosperity, BRI to empower nations to do it for themselves, donating vaccines around the world). They don't do 'soft power' deliberately. That would be contrived. They do it out of a sense of humanity. They know it's the right thing to do and ultimately a sustainable thing to do.

Soft power mean nothing if it isn't built on the foundation of hard power. Russia and China has never been this close. Russia has huge natural resources, huge agriculture land, and good space and military tech, but Russia lack of capital, market and labor. China has capital, market and labor, but lack of natural resources and agriculture land, and China is in the mids of modernizing its military and space tech. Both countries also has common foe in the US. Both countries also have already settled their border issue few years ago. It must be really uncomfortable for India to see its main arm supplier and powerful neighbor, Russia, is getting close to China. But for India, it will terrible if India also become the enemy of Russia and China. Both countries are close to India geographically, while the US is far away across the pacific.

Winter Olympics or any mega sporting event needs huge amount of money and infrastructure that Indian govt will find hard to spend on matter like these. Don't mention problems, and accept that China is way ahead of us in all avenues (hard, soft, money, GDP, tech, defense......). What is the solution???
