European Union (EU) leaders have refused Ukraine's appeal for rapid accession to the bloc. At a meeting in Versailles, the EU also brought forward its deadline for freeing itself from dependence on Russian oil and gas.

Ukraine won't be able to join EU and NATO is totally out of the question. Russia will use artillery strikes to destroy all infrastructure in Ukrainian key cities which will make the country lose years of progress making it harder to join EU. Simply put they never wanted to take ukraine in, and the fact that it has for a long time been the poorest European country does not help either.

Ukraine this is extremely sad after being egged on for years resulting in 2014 violent coup detat. Lives have been lost, the country's infrastructure is now being destroyed by Russian Federation. Terrority being seded to two new Republics, Crimea has been lost. There was no intention of having them in the EU block. This is painful for the 1000s that have lost their lives since 2014.
