Russian military drills on Japan-claimed islands after peace talks halted; Post-World War II dispute

The Russian military has reportedly started a military exercise involving 3,000+ troops on isles disputed with Japan. Moscow recently halted peace talks with Japan over Tokyo's sanctions in the wake of the Ukraine invasion. The Russian ministry said troops, including artillery units, are taking part on the assumption of an enemy landing. The dispute over 4 islands - Japan claims the Soviet Union illegally seized territory at the end of World War II.

莫斯科最近暂停了与日本的和平谈判，原因是在俄罗斯入侵乌克兰后日本采取了制裁措施。

Japan has invited trouble for itself unnecessarily by supporting American actions. Ukraine which has now become just a country of rubble is an example for others. Russia too is biting more than it can chew. Already the month long war has damaged its economy and revealed its weakness of preparedness  for a war . The Russian forces too look demotivated. Even if Russia wins it will be at a huge cost.
