The number of Chinese that don’t have refrigerator must be much much higher than 400 million. Many of my relatives in rural China have mobile phones now, but they cannot afford refrigerators, or they don’t think they need one: because most of their food come from the field directly. Depends what part of China you are talking about. But generally yes they exst. A wet market simply means a market that sells fresh food, as opposed to a supermarket that sells packaged food and other less fresh items. A wet market is not backwards, it works the same was as a supermarket but deals only in fresh food and there are the prices are generally cheaper.
